Announcements

***NEW*** 2023 Annual Publishing updates to ILM content are now complete. Please see our Content Updates page for information on 2023 content updates to each Trade.

The ILM office would like to regretfully inform our valued clients, customers and stakeholders that we will be discontinuing all ILMs in the Cabinetmaker, Cook, Machinist, and Rig Technician trades effective June 1st, 2023.

It is important to the ILM Office that our products are regularly updated to contain current and relevant learning content to support instructors and students with their teaching and learning. These ILMs are being discontinued due to insufficient demand and continuous constraints in acquiring the necessary resources to properly maintain and update the ILM content.

  • Products Affected
    • ILMs in all Periods of Cabinetmaker (36xxxx), Cook (18xxxx), Machinist (15xxxx), and Rig Technician (52xxxx).
    • This includes the French versions: Ébénisterie (FR-36xxxx), Cuisine (FR-18xxxx), and Usinage (FR-15xxxxx), respectively. There are no French translations of Rig Technician modules.
    • All supplementary products and resources (in both languages) for these four trades will also be discontinued, including:

      • Accessible ILMs

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause. Please reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions.

Individual Learning Modules

Individual Learning Modules (ILMs) are standardized training materials for instructors and students in apprenticeship trades and technical training courses. These modules are based on Alberta's apprenticeship curriculum guides and are intended to provide apprentices with standardized learning materials that are current and meet industry standards in Alberta.  AIT's curriculum guides are posted on their website.
Print ILMs are ordered via the Order Modules tab above and then printed and sold at the local training institution for students to purchase.

How ILMs are developed

Experienced subject matter experts write the modules based on learning outcomes identified by Industry.  All ILMs meet current industry standards in Alberta and are subjected to a peer-review cycle and are regularly updated. Instructors and students are encouraged to provide feedback on modules.
